want to start making super 8 films. i really like the film look.. was never interested in video or digital movie cameras. so i'm curious about cameras and film. been looking at old cameras on ebay and thrift stores.. will probably pick up a nice 70's model with a manual, they seem to be fairly cheap.. and i see that Kodak still makes the silent film cartriges. is the film hard to find or get developed? how expensive? do cameras that have sound still take silent film? are there many cameras still being made? i don't know much now about 8mm filming yet but want to just do simple stuff for fun. and what is the difference between 8mm and super 8? any info or advice would be appreciated.

Well, I noticed you didn't bother with an email address on your profile, and your new to the forum and, lol, your questions could fill a couple of pages.

I strongly recommend you use the search engine located on this forum and type in key words. You will find lots of good info and perhaps we can help you with more specific questions.

Thats the same guy that was rude to me, i posted there asking a few questions.. right before i found this sight..and was shunned by him over some supposed technicality on my user signup.. (*****d in everything it asked too) so i just responded with "well thanks for the info" NOT. anyway, i was only more elated to recieve VERY helpful advice right here.

With all due respect, Lemon you're new at this, so you won't have any idea if you're getting false advice or not, no matter how friendly it is delivered.

The fact is, you're going to get lots of faulty advice from Alex, and if you dare ever disagree with him, watch out, you'll have a psycho on your hands, because he HAS to be right, ALL the time.
I've heard him give advice to people that is so, so wrong, it's not funny, so be prepared to waste lots of valuable time and money making mistakes that he himself, has never made, because he hasn't actually done 10% of what he pretends he is an expert at.

Reading over your response, Matt Pacini, can only lead one to believe that you've completely misunderstood the quote in Alex's post.

Lemon72 was clearly refering to ANOTHER web board.

As far as incorrect advice goes, anybody who demonstrates the brilliance you gave away in this thread with regards to making your "feature":

    http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-bin/ult...c/f/405/t/1034

is probably dumb enough to misconstrue anything, and put it right to use.
